Services for Leonard "Pudgy" Earl Hortman, 71, of Marshall, will be held at 2:00p.m., Saturday, July, 08, 2017 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rusty Rustenhaven officiating. Mr. Hortman died June 29, 2017, at Heritage House in Marshall.
 

Born September 05, 1945, in Marshall, Texas to Elbert and Hazel Hortman, he was a 1964 graduate of Marshall High School, went to Kilgore College, and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force reserves. He later owned numerous businesses in Marshall and worked for local law enforcement as a dispatcher for Marshall Police. He later transferred to the Harrison County Sherriff’s department where he served as the Warrant/Transport officer until his retirement.
 

 He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Louise Padgett Hortman. 
 

Survivors include his daughters, Michelle Hortman Petty and Sherry Hortman Hall; brothers, James and Kenneth Hortman; sister, Jeannie Walsh; grandchildren, Haley Morgan, Dylan Morgan, and Dorian Henry; great-grandchildren Zakai Morgan and Neyeli Zaugg, as well numerous extended family members, friends, and his loving dog, Missy.
