A burial for Lee Roy Humphries, 75, of Tyler, Texas will be held at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Humphries passed away on January 15, 2022, of natural causes in Mineola, Texas.

After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy on March 22, 1967, where he served on board the USS New Orleans (LPH-11) at San Diego, California as an Aviation Boatswain Mate during Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal before he was transferred to the US Navy Reserve Force. He was reactivated to active duty for service during Operation Desert Shield. 

In 1969, He met Mary Elizabeth Cook, and they wed June 5th, 1969, going on to have 3 children, Dawn, Troy and Joseph. After retiring on December 14, 2003, Lee spent his time fishing and tinkering in his garage.

He predeceased by his parents, brothers John Humphries and Tommy Humphries, and great grandson Gaius “Little E.J.” Humphries.

He is survived by his wife Mary Humphries and their children, Dawn Kilgore, Troy Humphries and Joe Humphries and wife Brooke; grandchildren, Jacob, Kathryn, Levi, Collin, Jordan, Colt and Katelyn; great grandchildren, Solomon and Zack, and sister Judy Pounds.
