Charlie Starke, 63, of Marshall passed away Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, in Longview. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home of Marshall with the Rev. Mario Parga officiating. Charlie Starke was born Dec. 8, 1945, in Marshall to Mills Starke and Ruth Morriss Starke. He was a member of Summit United Methodist Church where he served as an usher. Charlie was a member of the Methodist Men and Old Bull Mavericks. He enjoyed metal art welding, building things, wood working, gardening, drawing, bird watching and was very artistic. He is survived by his special companion, Georgiann Floyd of Marshall and her daughter Amy Weesner of New York City; sister-in-law, Bernice Starke of Marshall; nieces, Rhonda Saintignan and husband Ronnie of Marshall and Fern Krc and husband Jim of Marshall; three great nieces and nephews; two great-great nieces and nephews; several cousins, and one aunt, Fern Miller of Amarillo. He is also survived by many dear friends. Mr. Starke is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Ebb Starke. Memorials may be made to Summit United Methodist Church or to Beacon Hospice of Longview.
