REBECCA ANN WEAVER

A homecoming service for Rebecca Ann Weaver, 73, of Marshall, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Shawn Smith and Rev. Carlton Burris officiating. Mrs. Weaver died on Sept. 30, 2020, in Longview, Texas.

She was born Nov. 5, 1946, a daughter of Stanley Johnson and Nona Mae Willis Johnson, in Shreveport, La. She eventually moved to Marshall and attended Marshall public schools, where she graduated from Marshall High School and shortly thereafter became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Becky spent nearly 50 years caring for the elderly as an LVN in Marshall nursing home facilities, including the last 30 at Marshall Manor.

Becky was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the BYKOTA (Be Ye Kind One To Another) Sunday School class. She loved her Lord, she loved her church and she loved her family and friends with an unconditional love that was widely recognized, felt and appreciated. She retired from Marshall Manor in June of 2018 due to health issues and spent the rest of her life continuing to love, serve and touch lives there as a resident beginning in February 2019 until the day she passed away.

She married the love of her life, David Weaver Sr., on July 2, 1965. They spent 45 years of marriage together before David passed away from complications due to diabetes on Aug. 25, 2010. During his 15-year battle with diabetes, Becky served as his round-the-clock nurse and never left his side while continuing to work full time at Marshall Manor and also serving her church, her children and her grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; aunts, Thelma Willis Biggs and Goldie Vaughn; uncle, Fred Vaughn; sister, Freddie Robinson; brothers, Ray Tynes and Paul Wayne “Skipper” Vaughn; nephews, Jeremy Wayne Tynes and Gary Wayne Tynes; and several other beloved friends and family.

Survivors this side of heaven include her three children: David Weaver, Jr., and wife, Jeannie; Nona Meissner and husband, Monty; and Niki Weaver Helton. She is also survived by her greatest treasures, her grandchildren, including: Coby Weaver and wife, Allie; Melody Weaver; Abby Weaver and Lily Weaver; Morgan Hukil and husband, Ryan; Ty Meissner; Kaylee Meissner; Triston Helton and Lydia Helton; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Elijah Hukil; a sister, Chris Boaze; several beloved nieces and close family members including Julie and Terry Leming; Amber and John Clark; Jamie and Brittany Leming; Katie and Tony Starr; Kathy and Brett Murray; and a host of other family and friends.

Interment will be in Nesbitt Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Coby Weaver, Ty Meissner, Triston Helton, Jason Tynes, Terry Leming, John Clark, Paul Vaughn and Steven Weaver. Honorary pallbearer will be her nephew, Sgt. Jamie Leming of the Marshall Police Department, who will have the honor of leading the funeral procession.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Marshall Manor Nursing Home and the congregation of Immanuel Baptist Church for both their loving friendship and care of our mother all these years. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Odette Santa and the MICU and SICU staff at Christus Good Shepherd-Longview.
