A funeral service for Peggy Diane Oney, 77, of Marshall, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2023, in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 29, 2023, at the funeral home.

Diane was born on August 26, 1945, in Marshall, Texas to Clarence Lee Evans and Martha Viola Robertson and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 25, 2023. 

She married the love of her life, Roger Dale Oney on May 16, 1964, in Marshall, Texas and the two remained married until her passing. Roger referred to her as “the love of his life.” She was a member of Pope City Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. In her spare time, when she was able, she enjoyed gardening. One of her most favorite things to do was to keep Roger in line. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Lee and Viola Evans; brothers, Lee Evans and Robert Evans; sister, Madeline Evans; father-in-law, Lloyd Oney; mother-in-law, Lillian Carter and son-in-law, Randy Brown.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Oney; children, Debbie Brown, Sherry Witcher and husband, Jerry and Jacob Oney and wife, Amanda; grandchildren, Blake Brown and wife, Shelley, Nick Brown, Hannah Wilson and husband, Kameron, Ty Witcher, Jimmy Oney and Adam Oney; great grandchildren, Nathan Brown, Madelyn Wilson and Slade Wilson; brothers, Bobby Evans, Larry Evans, Jerry Evans and Joe Evans and sisters, Sue McCain, Margaret Wallis and Brenda Andrews along with numerous other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made in her honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Christian Broadcasting Network.
