Edward Michael "Mickey" McCay, 61, of Marshall passed away Aug. 07, 2007, in Longview. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at St. Marks United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brenda Lucas officiating. Interment will follow in Yates Cemetery. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Downs Funeral Home. Mickey McCay was born Jan. 11, 1946, in Tupelo, Miss., to Carter and Kathleen McCay. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1964 and attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. He served his country in the US Army during Vietnam. Mickey was a Maintance Electrician for Wesco Valve for 16 years and was a charter member of St. Marks United Methodist Church. He was a hard worker and enjoyed spending time in the mountains and at the beach. He was well known by many youth and their parents for the countless games that he umpired through the years. Mickey was very outgoing and those who knew him loved him. He will be missed by all of his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Mareida McCay of Marshall; his mother, Kathleen McCay of Marshall; his children, Traci Huff and husband Bill of Marshall, Kristi McCay of Hallsville, Sharon Nichols and husband Eddie of Marshall, Camie Hall and husband Bill of Marshall, and Cristie Vickers and husband Ronnie of Elysian Fields; 10 grandchildren; his brothers, Bill McCay and wife Janie of Jefferson, Bob McCay and wife Diana of Atlanta, Ga., and his sisters, Gina Joseph and husband Jr. of Lufkin, and Jan McCay and husband Michael Schneider of Vail, Colo. Mickey is preceded in death by his father, Carter McCay. Pallbearers will be Tubby Cook, Mike Haynes, Matt Munden, Matt Burns, Bill Hall, Bob Brash, Lee Haggard and Pat Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Rod Watson, Chad Chambers, Rick Walsh, Ronnie Vickers and Boo Chaler. The family would like to express a special thank you to Meagan Morse. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Marks Methodist Church and American Heart Association.
